A Kansas City family is breathing a sigh of relief after a 14-year-old boy with autism who had gone missing was found safe. Christian Newton was last seen around 4:45 p.m. on a Monday afternoon in the area of 137th Street and Holmes Road. His disappearance triggered a community-wide effort, supported by local authorities and concerned residents.
Newton, who is 5'7" and weighs about 150 pounds, was last seen wearing a white Spider-Man hoodie, green pants, and black shoes. The search for him drew extra urgency due to his autism diagnosis and the fact that he did not have a phone with him, making it difficult for his family or law enforcement to track his location.
Thankfully, the search came to a positive conclusion. Members of a local homeless camp recognized Newton from flyers distributed throughout the city and alerted authorities. Police confirmed that the teen was found and reunited with his family. While he had some minor scratches, he was otherwise unharmed. His mother expressed gratitude and shared that she gave him a big hug when he was brought home.
